President's Notes :Did everyone get enough Olympics these past couple of weeks? My Olympic cup runnith over! So many events, so many commercials, such determination shown in the competitors faces. I especially liked the heavy weight wrestling match where the young man from Colorado Springs won over his Russian opponent, who hadn't lost a match since 1987, and who came into the match 67 and 0. But determination and skill won out over the Russian with the long string of wins, and the gold came home to Colorado Springs. Wow, that's about like showing up at a CLC run with a stock FJ and running with the modified and completing the run! I really missed seeing the Olympic rock crawling event this year. You know the one, where the rock crawlers gather and do the fundamentals, like maximum suspension flex, maximum side hill angle without rolling, the 30-mph broad jump, as well as the 30-mph high jump where the rock crawler must sustain no damage. And the gold/silver/bronze metal event, where competitors complete a 2-mile loop, which has 10 especially, constructed obstacles, which duplicate the best (or worst) obstacles found on the 10 most difficult trails in the world. And the time to beat? Maybe 35 minutes. Hey, it's my dream! With people competing on bicycles, kayaks, and horses, why not have 4 wheelers in an event like this sometime in the future? A comment on the up coming presidential election. One candidate favors closing the forests and roads to the citizens if the US. One candidate doesn't. You decide. I would like to welcome our newest family member to CLC. Jadin Christophor Nordyke arrived September 20th, at 9:20am. His specifications were 6 pounds and 18 inches. Mom and dad are doing just fine, and are just a teensy bit proud. Congratulations, JC and Heather. See you at our next CLC meeting, October 17th. Remember to enjoy your four wheeling here in Colorado. Keep the shiny side up, and if the trail you are on doesn't have a white arrow marking it, you shouldn't be on it. ~Darryl~ |
Cruisin' notes :During the September meeting, the following topics were discussed:
TLCA Bylaw review is due in January 2000
You might be a Cruiserhead if: You go postal if you sit in a highway traffic for fifteen minutes, yet can spend six hours driving a total of 1-1/2 miles off road and consider it relaxing |
